The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory would like to apologize to its clients for the delay in getting the new report features online. We have been working to improve our services to you and hope you will be pleased with the changes.

Why was the VDL web report changed to a Microsoft Word document?

Because new products often cause some disruption and temporary loss of comfort or even performance, you may appreciate some of the reasons why this new version of ISU LIMS has been implemented.

  1. Microsoft Word® is a standardized format that most computers can view and will work with most web browsers.

  2. Clients now have the option to either open the document from the web or save the file to a local hard drive. See the link below for instructions on how to do this.

  3. If the document is opened from the web, the file can be sent via email to anyone, anywhere who may need the information.

  4. Since this is a standard Word document, data can be copied from the report and inserted into an Excel spreadsheet. The “Tube Number” column can be then be formatted from “text” to “number” to enable consecutive numbering and accurate sorting in that column.

  5. The File can be converted into any other format, such as Adobe (pdf), HTML, or Rich Text.

  6. Charts and tables can now be offered in the report. Pictures can also be inserted into the report.

  7. The new version will allow much more comprehensive and user friendly searches, so both the laboratory and our users can benefit from better long-term retrieval of valuable data.
